Gary Christopher, M.L.S, M.A.

Gary Christopher has enjoyed an eclectic professional career over the past 32 years. Following graduation from Eastern Baptist College, now Eastern University, he took a position as curator of manuscripts at the Historical Society of Philadelphia, Pa. In this position he dealt with research and preservation of everything from the original draft of the Constitution of the United States to Philadelphia Trolley Car timetables.

Receiving his first master’s degree in Information and Library Science from Villanova University in 1975, Christopher began to teach at various area colleges as a visiting professor. Major course work was centered on Political and Physical Science, Civil War and Reconstruction and General American History.

In 1976, he became the director of the History Museum of the city of Philadelphia and oversaw its redevelopment for the Bicentennial. In 1982, Christopher joined the United States Army under a special bonus program to obtain personnel for the Rapid Deployment Force. Serving in the 18th Airborne Corps for three years with numerous deployments around the world, the Army sent him to the University of Georgia where he obtained a master’s degree in American History. Christopher ended his service career with the First Cavalry Division from which he was medically retired in 1988.

This led to a 13-year career in health information as a hospital librarian. He currently serves as Director of Library Services for the Frankford Hospitals in Pennsylvania.

Christopher resides in Riverside, N.J. where he is active in local affairs like the American Legion. He has served as the Chairman of the Township Land Use Board for the past five years and is an elected representative to the Country Republican Party. He has been an advisory board member for Teton Data Systems for the past three years.
