Lyle Bohlman, M.D.
Lyle G. Bohlman M.D. is originally from Watonga, Okla. and graduated from Oklahoma City University in 1970 with a BA in Psychology. He received his medical degree from the Oklahoma University School of Medicine in 1974. He attended Saginaw Cooperative Hospitals Family Practice Residency in Saginaw, Mich., and then practiced in Oklahoma, Montana and New Mexico where he served as Chief of Staff of San Juan Regional Medical Center, before marrying his wife Lyn, a Newton, Mass. native, who enticed him to the Boston area in 1985.
Bohlman was president of Family Healthcare Associates, a Boston-area group practice; served as Vice Chief of Staff at Malden Hospital; was the 1998 recipient of the Sidney Zeitler Award for his contribution to the residency as a community physician and was awarded the 2001 Outstanding Physician Award from Harvard Program Health Care.
Bohlman, an Assistant Clinical Professor of Tufts University’s Family Medicine and Community Health Department, was a community-based preceptor at the residency program since its inception in 1993, before joining the faculty full time in June of 1999.
He is currently Chief of Family Medicine at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Boston, the site of the residency’s Family Medicine inpatient service and serves as Medical Director of McFadden Manor Nursing Home in Malden, Mass.
Dr. Bohlman offers the residents practical wisdom gained from years of community- based practice and his background in rural medicine. His interests include practice management and health care delivery systems. In addition to being an avid skier, he enjoys golf as well as cooking, which stimulates his continued interest in jogging.
