Mark Dambro, M.D.
Born in California, Mark Dambro, M.D. graduated in 1972 with honors from the University of Arizona (U of A), with a degree in Nuclear Engineering. After working as an engineer and programmer, Dambro received his medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine in 1979. He did his internship at the University of Nevada in the Department of Family Practice in 1980 and completed his residency and fellowship back at the University of Arizona in the Department of Family Practice.
Upon completion of his medical education in 1983, Dambro stayed on at the U of A, School of Medicine as an Assistant Professor. He was elected chairman of the COSTAR Users’ Group in 1988 and served until 1993. In 1989 at the Annual Congress of the American Association for Medical Systems and Informatics (AAMSI), Dambro received the award for the best paper describing a medical computer application. After serving as Senior Vice President of Harris Methodist Health System from 1987 – 90, Dambro started his private practice in Fort Worth, Texas.
Still in private practice, Dambro has held positions as Medical Director for VNA Hospice and DFW Palliative Care Center. He has been Chairman of the Family Practice Quality Assurance Committee and Chief of the Family Practice Department.
Dambro edits Griffith’s 5-Minute Clinical Consult, an annual publication since 1993. He also edited The 5-Minute Patient Advisor and is responsible for distribution of the 5-Minute database for inclusion in a variety of computer-related products.
Dambro is board certified in Family Practice as well as Hospice and Palliative Medicine, and holds a medical license in Texas. He is a member of the American Academy of Family Practice (AAFP), the Texas and Tarrant County Chapters of AAFP, the National Hospice Organization, Tau Beta Pi (Engineering Honor Society) and the Texas Association of Magicians.
