L. Nell Hodo, M.D., M.A., M.S.
L. Nell Hodo, M.D. was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and raised in a suburb of Nashville, Tennessee. After high school, she decided to see what life was like north of the Mason-Dixon Line and headed to Brandeis University in Waltham, Mass., where she studied History, Spanish and Latin American studies.
She then traveled to Oxford, England as a Rhodes Scholar, where she earned an M.A. in Modern History, with an emphasis in 17th century Europe, and an MSC in History of Medicine. She also learned to row while in Oxford, and spent many enjoyable (if early) times on the water.
Nell then returned to the United States to attend Harvard Medical School. Her interests include women’s health, health care for the underserved, infectious disease, parasitology, and international health. She finished her residency in family medicine at the University of Utah in June 2006.
She enjoys cooking, reading, travel, singing, SEC football and supporting the Tennessee Titans. Nell is very excited to be a resident at the University of Utah and hopes to do outdoorsy things, such as hiking and camping, that she has not done since childhood. She would also like to learn to ski.
