Sarah Maulden, M.D.

Sarah Maulden, M.D. graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1991 from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Ill. with a B.A. in Literature, and did her pre-medical course work at East Tennessee State University. Maulden received her medical degree in 1998 from the University of Utah School of Medicine and did her internship in Internal Medicine, and Neurology residency there in Salt Lake City, Utah.

She is currently a National Library of Medicine Fellow studying Medical Informatics in the Departments of Neurology and Medical Informatics at the University of Utah School of Medicine. Her current research focuses on multivariate analysis of factors influencing timing of rehabilitation after stoke and its effect on outcomes.

She is board certified in USMLE Steps 1-3 and the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She is a member of the American Medical Informatics Association, the American Academy of Neurology, the American Medical Association, the Utah Medical Association and the Christian Medical and Dental Association.

The recipient of numerous honors and awards, a partial list includes: the American Headache Society Award, the American Society of Clinical Pathologists Award, the Tyler Book Award for outstanding performance in Endocrinology and the Dean’s Award at the University of Utah School of Medicine.

She has published articles in The Neurologist, the Journal of Infectious Diseases and Molecular and Cellular Endocrinology, and has given numerous oral presentations such as, Neurology and the Internet, Lhermitte-Duclos Disease, Epilepsy and Brain Tumors, Lumbar Epidural Abscess Presenting with Mental Status Changes, and many more.

Aside from her interest in medicine, Maulden keeps active as a violinist performing with string quartets in various settings, has taught a course on designing interactive Web pages using HTML and JavaScript, and is a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
