Fundamental skills are the foundation for greatness as an astute diagnostician and clinician. These skills cannot be replaced by CT scanners or laboratory tests. One of the great windows to the soul is the electrocardiogram. EKGaction’s unique approach to case-based learning allows trainees to become uniquely qualified to become quite proficient in the interpretation of electrocardiography.
As a cardiology fellow at the Cleveland Clinic, I was very lucky to be trained by Dr. Schiavone. His phenomenal EKG teaching skills and his thoughtful, competitive, well-designed and mind-stimulating EKG quizzes were very well received by all the fellows in our program. They were fun, enjoyable and always pushed us to work and think harder. Even when you had the right answer, there was always something more to learn. As faculty, I currently use some of his EKGs to teach my medical students, residents and fellows. I have no doubts that this website will be a tremendous resource for anyone who wants to learn about EKG. I know I will personally be using it to teach my trainees.
Trainees learned how to properly examine a patient and interpret the EKG. Dr. Schiavone’s website reflects the method of EKG education he developed when teaching medical residents and cardiology fellows. It is based around active learning—the learner must engage and connect—and in so doing, learn the ‘right way.’ In this website Dr. Schiavone shows common mimics and discusses confusing points about EKG interpretation.
